A Shooting Star

Now to those of you who are fortunate enough to live in places without light pollution, a shooting star may not seem like that big of a deal, but to me this evening, it was a small miracle.  This evening, I was able to spend with a family from a part of the world where it is not only illegal to open proclaim to follow Jesus, it could cost someone their life. The wife has become a good friend and has always been very generous with me since the first time I met her. She is so hungry to have true community with someone and I am very happy to spend time with her and simply chat.  This evening though, I prayed and prayed for opportunities to share the true meaning of Christmas with her, and did I ever get an opportunity.  After giving her a small Christmas gift (in which I included the Jesus Film), we spent the evening chatting, watching Beauty and the Beast with the kids, and eating dinner.  After dinner, while drinking delicious chai, I was able to share with my friend about the true meaning of Christmas.  I even got to share about St. Nicholas and what lengths he went to in order to share Christ, and how Santa Clause is a representation of him. During our conversation, she told me that while she was waiting for her approval to come to the US, she had two dreams about Jesus.  He was standing in front of her and asked her what she wanted.  She said she simply wanted bread and He gave it to her in abundance.  I was able to share with her how Jesus fed the 5000 people bread and how He said that even though that bread would cause them to be hungry again, He is the Bread of Life and the Word of God will fill us as bread.  I told her that I would continue to pray she sees God working in her life.  As I left that family this evening, I looked up on my way to my car and saw a shooting star.  It was confirmation to me that God keeps His promises and that He desires none to perish.  Please keep this family in your prayers and me as I seek to live out the message of Jesus.
