Hello Everyone!
I realize it has been several months since I last wrote, but not because things have been boring! Upon returning from India, I was able to spend the holidays with friends and family (and by holidays I mean Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday) before I had to return to school for my final semester. My last semester was crazy and full of work and spending time with precious friends before my impending doom, I mean graduation. I realize that graduation is supposed to be a happy occasion, but at the time I didn't realize that. All graduation mean to me was that I had to figure out how to be a "grown-up" that much faster, plus I knew I would be leaving all my college-friends.
Anyway, I am still in the process of figuring out what to do with my new "grown-up" status. The Lord has, I believe, given me the opportunity to go to Los Angeles for two years with a particular organization. Everything seems to be falling into place with that, except for where I will live and how I will live there. As long as that works out, I will be going there in September to do ethnographic research. That is a fancy way of saying studying ethnic groups. Its more than just demographics, though. I will be spending time with people from various groups and learning their needs. Then the other part of my job will be to encourage local churches and believers to get involved in that part of their community. Many Christians in LA don't even know the world is right out their front door, and it will be my job to introduce them to it!
This is very exciting and something that I am very passionate about and I would love for you all to join me in prayer over this opportunity and if it is the Lord's will. Some specifics to pray about:
- That those involved in the decision making process about housing funds would have clear direction
- That I would be discerning of the Lord's direction
- That, if I were to go there, I would be helpful to the ministry of those already about the Lord's work
Thank you again for your prayers!
